The Fish Falls from Grace

Fickle is the hand of fortune, and it strikes even the mighty. "The Fish," which has hardly left Jakob's side since Florida, has been officially replaced by "The Pink Cat." The following conversation took place at bedtime:

Jakob: I want my Pink Cat.
Andrea: Ok.
J: I don't want The Fish.
A: The Fish isn't in your bed, Jakob.
J: Its under the bed.
A: Ok.
J: Take it away. Get rid of it. I want my Pink Cat!

Fun at the Beach

Some people, however, were not allowed to relax...

Assorted Sandcastles

Definitely one of the highlights. When we had to go home Jakob demanded to "stay on the beach and sleep in the sandcastle."

The Feather

Building sand castles was one of the highlights of hanging out on the beach, but even more exciting was finding feathers to decorate the castles with.

The Fish

During the whole stay, The Fish or The New Fish, as he was often called, was an inseparable companion.

The picture requires no comment. It was taken at Sarasota's Mote Aquarium.

The Snake

On the way down we stopped for dinner at Shoney's, and we lucked into some face painting for kids. When asked what he wanted on his faced, Jakob answered without any hesitation: "A SNAKE!"

The Drive to Florida

Here you can see Jakob, with his mom, exploring the American side of his identity at an All-American truck stop in West Virginia. I probably don't need to add that he thought the trucks were very interesting.
